JoAnn Mauck Cook, age 81, of Danville, passed away at 8:05 am EST on Monday, October 6, 2008 at her granddaughters home in Aiken, South Carolina. She was born August 13, 1927 in Danville the daughter of Ernest Dutch V. and Lucille (Hammond) Mauck. JoAnn married Charles W. Cook on September 11, 1949 at the St. James Methodist Church in Danville. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1999. JoAnn is survived by her three children: Brad (Sylvia) Cook of Texas, Carolyn (Perry) McCuller of Georgia, Scott (Linda) Cook of Danville; seven grandchildren: Sandi (Joe) Caywood, Amy (Kobi) Gunther , Eric Powell, Halo (Michael) Slack, Danielle (Michael) Gill, Rachael Cook, Andrew Cook; five great grandchildren: Danielle Caywood, Patrick Caywood, Jakki Caywood, Jodi Caywood, Charlie Slack; and two special friends: Martha Stine and Fern Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter: Christine Cook and one brother: Wayne V. Mauck. JoAnn attended the University of Purdue and attained a degree in education. She taught school in North Carolina and Georgia before becoming a home maker and raising her family. The one thing that JoAnn enjoyed most in life was spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. A celebration of the life of JoAnn Cook will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Sunsets Community and Life Tribute Center (formerly Lakeside-Barrick Funeral Home) in Danville with her son-in-law Perry McCuller officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the tribute center.
