Joan Laird

Joan Laird, 90, of Danville passed away peacefully at her home on December 30, 2018.

She was born on November 24, 1928 in Danville the daughter of Benjamin and Viola (Wilson) Cage. She married Robert Laird on March 30, 1947 in Danville and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2000.

Joan will be deeply missed by her children; Robert (Karen) Laird, Donna (John) McMahon and Cheryl (Mark) Ketcherside, grandchildren; Jason McMahon, Kimberly (Steven) Carrell, Shannon (Dan) Nipper, Keri (Matt) Lamb, Holly Laird, Robert (Megan) Ketcherside and Lindsey (Aaron) Ahart, great grandchildren; Elizabeth McMahon, Koby, Kyle, Brooklyn and Boston Carrell, Kalyn, Nathan and Addisyn Nipper, Natalie Lamb, Ava and Ella Ketcherside, Akron Ahart, one baby girl due in February and brother-in-law, Dale (Sara) Laird .

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, John (Rusty) Cage, sister, Betty (Joel) Ward, father-in-law, Frank Laird and mother-in-law, Louise (Gus) Berg.

Joan was a graduate of Danville High School and went on to become a home health aide. She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Christian Church, formerly First Church of Christ in Danville, where she was active in ladies fellowship, teaching Sunday school, vacation bible school and the choir. Joan also directed the parent teacher association chorus for several years. She loved to sing, sew, crochet, travel, cook and play cards. Her loving husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were what she enjoyed the most.

A celebration of Joans life will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 5, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Robbie Ketcherside officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Friday, January 4, 2018 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
