Joan C. Lockard

Joan C. Lockard, 83, of Oakwood passed away at 4:10 PM on September 28, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. Joan was born on September 12, 1935 the daughter of Donald and Martha (Allison) Cole in Oakwood, IL. She married James Lockard in August 28, 1954 in Covington and he survives of Oakwood. Survivors include her husband; James, two sons; Gary (Crystal) Lockard of Danville, IL and William Lockard of Oakwood, one daughter; Susan (Jimmy) Childers of Collison, one sister; Colleen Miller of Enon, OH, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, one son; James, three brothers; Donald, Stephen and James Cole and one sister; Virginia Spencer. Joan attended Oakwood Schools and was a Cook for the Oakwood Grade School until her retirement in 1997. In her free time, she enjoyed feeding the birds and watching the animals in her yard, sewing and spending several winters in Florida where she would ride her three wheeled bicycle with friends. Most of all, Joan loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be at 12:00 pm Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel, 105 E. South Main Street Oakwood, IL. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 AM until Noon Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
