Joan M. Beagle

Danville - Joan M. Beagle, 79, of Danville, passed away July 26th, 2026, at Carle Hospital in Urbana. She was born Oct 1, 1946, in Kankakee, Illinois, the daughter of Kenneth and Margaret (Kruger) Storch. She was married to Charles R. Beagle, August 13th, 1966. He preceded her in death on December 17th, 2012. Joan is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Beagle) Hulette, and a son, Patrick Beagle and his wife Gayla. Also surviving are three grandsons, Ryan Beagle, Nathan Beagle, and Logan Mills, and three great grandsons, Grayson Beagle, Theodore Beagle, and Weston Beagle.

Joan graduated from Peotone (IL) High School in 1964 and Silver Cross School of Nursing in Joliet, IL in 1966 and worked as a registered nurse in Pediatrics at St Elizabeth and then Lakeview/OSF Hospitals in Danville for 40 years. Joan was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed volunteering her time and skills by donating knitted hats to local schools, participating in MS walks, and the annual basketball tournaments at DACC. She spent her free time doing what she loved including cross stitch, sewing, painting ceramics/gourds, reading, cooking, knitting, and watching the birds outside her front window. In her younger years she enjoyed gardening, archery, camping, playing cards, CB club, dance, and helping out with many school/dance activities with her daughter. She loved her dogs/cats, Illini basketball, NASCAR/Jeff Gordon, and game shows of all sorts.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 PM on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 3, also at Sunset in Danville followed by internment at Springhill Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society, National MS Society, St Jude’s or the Wounded Warrior Project.
