Jo Ann Johnson

Danville- Jo Ann (McElwain) Johnson, 66, of Danville, IL, formerly of Norman, OK, passed away at 11:30 AM Sunday, November 25, 2012 at home surrounded by her family. She was born November 8, 1946 in Danville to Ansel and Martha (Sheffield) McElwain. She was formerly married to Wayne Johnson on September 24, 1967. He preceded her in death September 17, 2001. Jo Ann had worked for Chuckles before she made her home in Norman, OK for 25 years until she moved back to Danville in June 2010 to live with her son. She is survived by a son Wayne Junior (Anne) Johnson of Danville; two daughters Joanna (Doug Tallent) of Yukon, OK and Amanda Johnson of Danville; four granddaughters, Krystal (Desmond) Wompler of Terre Haute, IN, Kabrena, Angel, and Bryana Johnson of Danville; two grandsons, Kenneth Trenkamp of Oklahoma City, OK and Joseph Trenkamp of Van Buren, AR; two great-granddaughters, Shiloh Wompler of Terre Haute, IN, and Victoria Trenkamp of Oklahoma City, OK; four great-grandsons Devon and Ethan Wompler of Terre Haute, IN, Bentley Cole and Joseph Ray Trenkamp of Van Buren, AR. A step granddaughter Mikelle Whisman of Los Angeles, CA and a step-grandson Jeremy Lee Kirby of San Francisco, CA; a step- great granddaughter Torie Kirby and a step great-grandson JC Kirby of San Francisco, CA; a sister Fern (Huppy) Johnson of Danville; a close friend, Freda Kinney of Danville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, five brothers, and 3 grandchildren in infancy. As per Jo Ann's wishes she will be cremated. There will be no services. Her ashes are to be spread at a later time. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville is in charge of arrangements.
