Jo Ann Carlson

Jo Ann Carlson, 88, of Danville, passed away at 2:00am, Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman. She was born on April 7, 1932 in Danville the daughter of Alex and Doris {Stevens} Wrisk, both deceased. She was united in marriage to Everett Carlson on June 29, 1956 in Covington, Indiana, until his passing on April 4, 2017. Those who will miss her include: her children, Elody (Roger) Kiser, Kevin Carlson, Kathy (David) Johnson, Bill Carlson, Scott (Jill) Carlson, Tony (Rose) Carlson, and stepson, Ronnie Turner; her daughter-in-law, Debi Carlson; her grandchildren, Lindsay, Allison, Andy, Angie, Ashley, Britney, Randi, Katie, Haley, Jenna, Jean, Jack, Nick, Rachel, Lauren, Brandon, & Justin; and several great grandchildren. A special thank you to Ruthann Augustus, Chuck Cheeseman, and Jackie & Raymond Brown. To moms special son, Gus. She will also be missed by her dog, Susie-Q. Joann was preceded in death by: her son, Johnny Vic Carlson; and her granddaughter, Kodi Johnson. Jo Ann co-owned Carlson Tree Service. She was known to many as hardworking and super mother of seven. She took time to serve as the PTA President when her kids were in school. She also spent time baking and crafting. She took great joy in gardening, especially flowers. She loved to play the organ. Jo Ann loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they will cherish those memories made with her. She took pride in helping her community and did so whenever she could. JoAnn loved her family and was always there for them. A Celebration of JoAnns life will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883 with Pastor Don Hesler officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00am - 12:00pm on Saturday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Danville.
