J.L. 'Buddy' Lovett

J.L. Buddy Lovett, 60, of Danville, passed away at 5:14 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Buddy was born on April 2, 1948 in Lumberton, North Carolina, the son of James LaDon and Dorothy (Cox) Lovett. He married Dorothy Dottie Johnson on November 24, 1978 in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by his two sons-James and Matthew Lovett of Texas; one daughter- Angilea Wyrick of Texas; two brothers- Timmie Wayne (Paulette) Lovett of Lumberton, North Carolina and Danny Ray (Janice) Lovett of Mattoon, Illinois; two sisters- Shirley (W.K.) Lewis of Supply, North Carolina and Julie (Bruce) Majors of Danville; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother- Martin Edward Lovett and one sister- Linda Carol Lovett. Buddy served in the Unites States Marine Corp and in the Job Corp. He started working at General Motors in Danville in 1969 and later transferred to Shreveport, Louisiana and continued working for G.M., until retiring in 2003. Following retirement he worked at Wal-Mart in Shallotte, North Carolina. He was a member and deacon of the Greater Vision Fellowship Church in Danville. Buddy loved God and wanted to see everybody saved and he loved to spend his time fishing. In the past few years he has enjoyed spending his time painting. He loved his family very much and he enjoyed helping out with the homeless whenever they were in need. A Celebration of the Life of J.L. Buddy Lovett will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2008 at Abundant Life Tabernacle Church, with Pastor Rick Lomax officiating. Visitation will be at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date. Per Buddys wishes he will be cremated following the service. Memorials may be made to the Greater Vision Fellowship Church.
