Jimmy Saylor

Jimmy M. Saylor, 83, formerly of Reynolds and Pine Village, passed away Monday, October 29th, 2018, at his home in Covington, Indiana. The youngest of 14 children, he was born June 9, 1935 in Wallins Creek, Kentucky to Newberry & Dora Jane (Osborne) Saylor. He married Nellie Saylor in 1954 and had 4 children. He then married Connie Christian in 1978. He retired with 38 years of service from Purdue University. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was an avid gardener and loved his pets. He is survived by his wife, children, Jimmy W. (Diana) Saylor of Covington, Michael (Kelley) Saylor of Attica, and Joy (Tim) Cheek of Big Stone Gap, VA. A brother, Lonnie Saylor, of Hutchison, KS and a sister, Sue Asher of Corydon, IN. Three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Stepchildren, Terry Christian, Tammy Jones both of Lafayette, and Brenda Moss of Boca Raton, FL. Six step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Saylor and grandson, Michael Saylor II. A Celebration of Jimmy's life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Sunset Covington Chapel, 420 3rd St, Covington. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, November 2, 2018 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Pine Village Cemetery.
