Jimmy Akins, 50, of Danville, passed away on November 22, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Jimmy was born on December 9, 1964 in Scottsville, KY, the son of Burton and Clara (Calvert) Akins. He married Paula McQueen on Valentine's Day in 2001. She survives. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Clara, wife, Paula, children; Jamie (Jason) Smith, Victoria (AJ) Wilson, Ryan (MJ) Akins and Robert Watson, siblings; Terry (Cindy Fleming) Bell Jr., Bernita (Glen) Shelato, Mike (Becky) Akins and Steven Akins, six grandchildren, five nieces, five nephews and pet Chihuahua "Little Butt". He was preceded in death by his father, Burton. Jimmy was a big Chicago Bears fan and huge NASCAR fan pulling for Kyle Busch who was this year's winner! Jimmy worked at KIK in Danville for 28 years as the Maintenance Supervisor. He liked to play poker and was known for living life to its fullest. A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Sunset's Urbas Funeral Chapel in Westville at 2:00 PM with Dan Michael officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Danville. Memorials can be made in Jimmy's name to the American Cancer Society.
