Jimmie R. Taylor, Jr

Jimmie R. Taylor, Jr, 80, of Bismarck, IL passed away at his home on July 9, 2024 at 12:19 PM.

Jimmie was born on June 30, 1944 the son of Jimmie and Eloise (High) Taylor, Sr in Philadelphia, PA.

Survivors include his daughters Melanie (Darrell) Carpenter of Georgetown, IL and Melisssa Haun of Levasy, MO. Three grandchildren, Greyson "Bubba" (Brenda) Carpenter, Brendon Carpenter and Kailey Carpenter. Four great grandchildren, Izabelle Carpenter, Annabelle Doyle, & Gweneviere Carpenter with another great granddaughter due in December. Also his two siblings, Tina (Ron) Rath and Michael (Vicki) Taylor and his care helper and friend, Renee Brown.

Jimmie served his country in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, rising in rank to Sergeant. He loved driving a semi truck and traveled all over the country until his retirement due to health issues. Jimmie also loved spending his free time raising horses, participating in and attending rodeos, and taking care of his dogs, especially "Cheetah".

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. John Graves will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Corner Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210. Visitation will be held from 9-11:00 AM on Monday, July 15, 2024 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jimmies memory to Veterans Organization of the Donors Choice.
