Jim C. Gilbert

Cayuga, Ind. - Jim C. Gilbert, 51, of Cayuga, passed away at 6:06 p.m. EDT Sunday, August 30, 2015 at his residence. He was born February 15, 1964 in Chicago Heights, Illinois the son of the late Dawn Michelle Lee Gilbert and James Franklin Gilbert. Jim married Twilla M. Catterson on June 27, 1992 in Bloomingdale, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include his son, Jerimiah Gilbert of Cayuga, Indiana; step mother, Mildred Gilbert of Clay City, Kentucky; father and mother-in-law, Joe(Diana)Catterson of Crawfordsville, Indiana; step sister and step brother, Jackie and Gary both of Kentucky; three brother-in-laws, Bill(Marsha)Catterson of Bloomingdale, Indiana; Gary(Melanie)Catterson of Covington, Indiana and Rodger Catterson of Veedersburg, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Cathy Threet and brother, Albert Gilbert. Jim was a self employed carpenter. He attended the Cayuga Christian Church and was a 1982 graduate of Turkey Run High School. He enjoyed mushrooming and spending time with his son fishing and watching him play football. Funeral services: 10 a.m. EDT Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Cayuga Christian Church; Officiating: Keith Warner; Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. EDT Friday, September 4, 2015 at the church and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Cremation following services will be accorded. Contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
