Jewell D. Haworth Moss 86, of Tilton, formerly of Georgetown passed away at 10:07 a.m. Wednesday January 8, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on October 2, 1927 in Georgetown, the daughter of Roy and Dorothy Neal Haworth. She graduated from Georgetown High and went to work at R&S Printing in Danville where she worked for ten years and met the the love of her life Richard “Mouse” Moss. They were married on November 12, 1948 and had been married for 61 years before Richards passing. They lived in Tilton their entire married life and where they had three sons. In her early years, Jewell liked to square dance, as well as, camping. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, and playing Bingo as well. She collected Scotty dogs and had her constant companion, Buddy, with her at all times. She enjoyed cooking and was always coming up with some delicious meals. Jewell had also worked for Estad manufacturing and Myrtles Boutique and had retired but came back into the “work force” to work for Danville District 118 in the lunchroom as a monitor at Northridge Middle School for ten years and finally officially retired. She later was an Election Judge for many years. Jewell was a member of Daniel School PTA and South view PTA as well as helping with the band. She was a member of the Roselawn Garden Club. Jewell was a member of Georgetown Methodist Church. You could always see her and Doug working in the yard making it a beautiful corner yard for all to see. She leaves behind: her son, Doug (Linda Phillips) Moss of Tilton; her brothers, Harold (Helen) Haworth of Georgetown, and Bud (Jackie) Haworth from Leesburg, FL; her many nieces and nephews; and all her many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Jeff and Steve. A celebration of Jewells life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Wade Martin officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be given to The American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
