Jessie Mae Boyd Stinson, 100, of Danville passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019.

Jessie was born on August 29, 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Pearl (Sanders) Boyd in Blytheville, Arkansas. She was married for over 30 years to George Stinson. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by a niece, Jessica Smith with whom she resided and a nephew, Harold Smith of Springfield, IL. Other survivors include great nephews, Christopher Bougard, Cameron Smith and Gregory Butler; great nieces, Christine Smith and Courtney Smith, several grand nieces and nephews also survive.

She had a special bond with great grand nieces, Christen Bougard and Destiny Dye. Jessie also leaves behind her goddaughter, Tyra Jackson of Atlanta, GA.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, brother, and one niece.

She worked for many years at Montgomery Wards in Chicago. After retiring, she moved to Danville, where she babysat for many children. She loved this job the most. Jessie was the oldest member of Second Baptist Church, where she served at vacation bible school and the culinary ministries.

Funeral services for Jessie will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Second Baptist Church in Danville with Pastor Timothy Shaw officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park.
