Jesse Harold Skinner, 89, of Danville, passed away January 29, 2016. Jesse was born on August 24, 1926 in rural Indiana the son of Walter and Francis (Fink) Skinner. He married Vera Conner on September 10, 1949 in Argenta, IL.; she survives. Also surviving are their children; Robert (Nancy) Skinner of Danville, James (Karen) Skinner of Danville, Susan Siddens of Alvin and Anna (Joe) Melecosky of Westville; sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; one step great-great grandson; two brothers Larry (Helen) Skinner of Warsaw, KY, and George Skinner of Danville. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, two brothers and a great granddaughter Katie Ingalsbe. Jesse enjoyed fishing, gardening and working on lawn mowers. Jesse was a veteran of WWII serving in the European Theatre. He was a member of Farmers Chapel United Methodist Church, was the last surviving charter member of Hoopeston's American Legion and also was a member of the Local 624 Labor union. A celebration of Jesse's life will be held on Wednesday February 3, 2016 at 10am at Farmers Chapel United Methodist Church in Danville with burial in Rossville Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday February 2, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center from 5-8.
