Jesse Cundiff, 80, of Fithian, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 peacefully at his home. He was born on December 9, 1933 in Danville, the son of John and Emma (Atwood) Cundiff. He married Betty Lou Sprague on October 2, 1953 in Oakwood. They spent 60 wonderful years together and she survives. He will be deeply missed by his wife, two sons, Jesse (Roberta) Cundiff of Oakwood, Joe Cundiff of Fithian, one daughter, LaDonna (Blake) Boyles of Danville, two brothers, Frances Cundiff of Hoopeston and Ted Cundiff of Danville, one sister, June McFarland of Fairmount, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Les and four sisters, Viola, Marie, Sarah and Grace. He was a graduate of Armstrong High School and then pursued his love for seed and plants with Southern States Seed Company, later Garst Seed, where he retired after over 40 years of service. Jesse built the Nazarene Church in Oakwood and was the long time superintendent. He loved mushroom hunting and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A celebration of Jesses life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Dave Anderson officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Oakwood. Memorials can be made in Jesses name to the First Church of the Nazarene in Danville.
