Jerry W. Shuman

Jerry W. Shuman, 77, of Covington, Indiana, passed away at home at 7:35am, on Saturday, April 11, 2020. He was born on January 6, 1943 at home in Covington, Indiana, the son of William Wesley and Wilma Helen {McKinney} Shuman. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Powell on July 3, 1965, in Covington, Indiana. She will miss him dearly.

He is also survived by: his daughter, Roni (Darren) Taylor of Covington, IN; his four grandchildren, Jerry W. (Shayla) Shuman III of Covington, IN, Jenifer L. (Sean) Thomas of Missoula, MT, Amanda L. Taylor of Lebanon, IN, & Addison N. Taylor of Covington, IN; his four great grandchildren, Laban, Lynix, Luca, & Launa Shuman; his daughter-in-law, Linda (Brian) Cohen of Kingman, IN; his two brothers, William J. Shuman of Killeen, TX & Tony (Linda) Shuman of Wallace, IN; his three sisters, Judy Gayler of Danville, IL, Sharon Lappin of Covington, IN & Debra L. Sandefer of Stringtown, IN; several nieces & nephews; and two close friends, John Waclaw & Charlie Wallerich, both of Covington, IN. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Bobby Gene; two brothers-in-law, David Lappin & Gale Gayler; and his son, Jerry W. Shuman Jr.

Jerry graduated from Covington High School in 1961. He worked for the Indiana State Highway Department. He worked for 54 years at Waclaw Body Shop for Ed and John Waclaw. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, gardening, and sports, being an avid Indiana Hoosier and Chicago Cubs fan.

A Memorial Visitation will be held 2:00pm to 4:00pm (EST), Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932. His family had a private service on April 16, 2020. He was laid to rest in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington, IN.
