Jerry W. James, 64 of Grape Creek passed away September2, 2009 at his home. He was born November 29, 1945 in Danville the son of Alfred and Lillian Cottrell James. Jerry is survived and missed by: his sister, Judy (Roland) Atwood of Westville; his brother, Robert (Sue) James of Danville; his brother in-law, Carl Shepard of Allendale, IL; one niece, Kari (Tim) Hooks of Oakwood; three nephews, Roland Atwood III of Westville, Jake (Bridgett) Shepard of Allendale, IL, & Don Shepard of Allendale, IL; also two great nieces and two great nephews; special friends, Tim and Carla Free, as well as, all his friends at Rosies Tavern. He was a US Army Veteran and worked as a coal miner and as a farmer. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his friends. He was preceded by his parents and sister, Elaine Shepard. A celebration of Jerrys life will be at 2:00 p.m.Saturday September 5, 2009 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel of Westville. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Saturday. As per Jerrys wishes he will be cremated following the service and will be laid to rest in the Danville National Cemetery at a later date.
