Jerry Griffith

Jerry Griffith, 71, of Georgetown, passed away at 4:30pm, Sunday, July 31, 2011, in Tangier, IN. He was born on October 21, 1939, in Georgetown, the son of Perry and Virginia {Duell} Griffith. He was married to Patricia Lynch on July 8, 1972, in Georgetown. She survives along with their daughter, Dr. Julie (Dr. Dan) Dzielawa of Dublin, OH, and his daughter from a previous marriage, Deborah (Cory) Malz of Smithfield, RI. He is also survived by: his mother, Virginia Griffith of Chrisman, IL; his granddaughter, Lacey Reuther of Danville; and his brother, Tom (Susan) Griffith of Council, Idaho. His father preceded him in death. Jerry served in the US Army from 1963-65. He retired from the US Postal Service as a letter carrier in 1997. He was a member of the Illiana Bow Hunters He loved going dancing especially at the Highway Club 341 Caf in Wallace, IN. He was very proud of his daughter's accomplishment of PHD in Chemistry. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 4pm-7pm, Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at the funeral home. As were his wishes, Jerry will be cremated. Condolences may be sent to his family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com .
