Jerry Dean Marxmiller, Sr.

Jerry Dean Marxmiller, Sr., 76, of Perrysville, IN, passed away at 10:58 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born May 12, 1936 in Danville a son of Homer Eugene and Rachel Beckley Marxmiller. He is survived by his children, Brenda (Harry) Newlin of Perrysville, IN, Linda (Jim) Jones of Hendersonville, TN, Jerry Marxmiller, Jr. of Washington, IN, Tracy Davis of Lafayette, IN and Chris (Lori) Marxmiller of Atlanta, GA, nine grandchildren, Travis Newlin, Ryan and Dustin Jones, David and Deanna Hughes, Spencer and Presley Marxmiller and Linsay and Andrea Davis and 4 great-grandchildren, Hailey and Lilah Jones and Logan and Alexis Kincade, a sister, Frances LeConte of Plainfield, IN, his second wife and close companion, Maxine Marxmiller. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Darla Hughes, a grandson, Christian Marxmiller a sister, a brother and his longtime friends Virginia Ping and Norma Lee Dunham Marxmiller. Jerry was an ironworker for Champaign Local 380 for 36 years. He was a volunteer Firefighter for the Covington Community for several years. Jerry loved The Lord and had joy in his heart. He was a member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Covington. He loved playing golf, working in the yard and playing cards with his longtime friends. He was a great storyteller of his earlier years working on the Tree Spring Farm with the Sare Family. Funeral services will be at noon Friday, June 15, 2012 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga with Pastor Steve Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington.
