Jerry D. Hieser

Jerry Hieser 83, of Mahomet, IL. passed away on Saturday August 24, 2024 in Mahomet, IL. He was born on April 9, 1941 in Champaign, IL. the son of Emery and Irene (Schertz).

Jerry retired from The University of Illinois where he worked as an animal caretaker. He took pride in taking care of his yard and garden and was a “jack of all trades” he had an ability to fix just about anything. He loved to ride his Harley and spend time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his siblings, Jeanette (Roger) Sphar, Roger (Pam) Hieser, son, Steven (Cindee) Hieser and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Rosalie, son, Rick and brother-in-law Willis Somer.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org

A memorial visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 1102 Churchill Rd. Mahomet, IL. 61853 on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 4-6pm with a service to follow at 6pm.
