Jerry Anderson

Oakwood - Jerry Anderson of Oakwood passed away on November 9, 2016 at his home in Oakwood, IL. He was born November 17, 1922 in Sand Gap, KY the son of Skelton Mac and Ida Elizabeth (Alcorn) Anderson. He married Mildred L. Fletcher (who gave him three sons); she preceded him in death on December 29, 1985. He later married Helen Fletcher, who also precedes him in death. He married Molly (O'Neal) Anderson on December 16, 1996, she survives. He is also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Effie Richardson, Mina Calvert, Myrtle Cundiff and Maxine Young. Jerry was a lifelong farmer and retired from GM after 32 years. He always said that if they had known he would have lived so long they would have fired him. Jerry served his country in the Army during WWII. Jerry was an avid fisherman and enjoyed teaching and watching his grandsons follow his passion. Above all Jerry loved his wife and family. His greatest pleasure was having them around him sharing all the fun memories that they had. Jerry was baptized in the Lord June 29, 1997 and loved his Lord. Jerry is survived by his wife, Molly Colleen O'Neal Anderson; sons, Eddie Joe (Brenda), Ronald Mac (Marilee), Jerry Mark (Connie) Anderson; daughters Katrina Schmid, Erika Carrell; grandchildren, Rick (DeeDee), Brian (Jackie), Mitchell (Suzanne) Anderson, Lonnie (Tammy), Melissa Anderson, Rebecca Anderson, Jerralyn Smith, Rachel (Zach) Verbracken, Sarah, Mahlon, Levi, Jacob, Leah, Megan Schmid, Lindsey (John) Bridgeman, Paul (Julie) Maze, Jim (Nicki) Saathoff; great-grandchildren, Brylie and Kade Anderson, Jake, Mike and Tyler Anderson, Cooper and Hayden Anderson, Emma and Alexa Anderson, Trevor Gray, Logan Maze, Annalise, Brenton Smith, Lane, Levi, Blythe, Eastyn Bridgeman, Ryder Saathoff, Jacob Moxley;great great-grandchild, Brynlie Todd; a special son-in-law, Richard Schmid. Visitation is Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 4-7 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion, Danville, IL 61834. The service is Monday November 14, 2016 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded with inurnment at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
