Jerry A. Smith

Jerry A. Smith, 49, of Danville, a beloved son, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on July 6, 2022. He was born in Danville on December 24, 1972, the son of Jerry D. and Cathy {McCrone} Smith.

Jerry is survived by his mother, Cathy Smith; sisters, Amy Smith, Carla Smith; beloved grandchildren, Christian Chandler, Chelsea Chandler; special friends, Ronnie, Stephanie, Celeste, and all of his east end family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry D. Smith, daughter, Kayla Michelle Smith, and grandparents.

Jerry worked construction and landscaping jobs over the years and enjoyed spending his time outdoors. He could often be found fishing, gardening, and he loved camping with his grandchildren who were the light of his life. Jerry also enjoyed cooking for his family on the grill, which he would do year-round, and he shared the enjoyment of watching the Chicago Cubs and Dallas Cowboys with his Dad.

He will be deeply missed and loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
