Jerry A. Gale 88, of Danville, IL passed away on March 12, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born on April 30, 1933, the son of George and Leatha (Taylor) Gale in Paris, IL.
Jerry married his wife of 69 years, Janet A. (Fritts) Gale on January 25, 1953 in Paris, IL, she survives. He is also survived by his sons, Mark (Brenda) Gale of Danville, IL, Randy (Deanna) Gale of Woodstock, GA, and Steven (Julie) Gale of Titusville, FL; grandchildren; Joshua Gale, Brock (Alexandra) Gale, Elizabeth (Tommy) Combs, Angela (Klay) Koester, Grant Gale, and Zackary Gale; great grandchildren, Katharina Gale, Zechariah Gale, Ainsley Combs, Asher Combs, and David Gale.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen (Robert) Kuntz; brother, Carl (Lena) Gale; and sisters, Marjorie (Wilbert) Sanders and Mary Lou (Robert) Meadows.
Jerry retired from Danville Metal Stamping after 43 years as Vice President of Marketing. The family would like to thank Danville Metal Stamping for their love and support over the years.
Jerry loved sports, especially Illini Basketball and golf. He also loved wood carving, traveling and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In the younger days of his family, he loved coaching his boys in basketball and baseball. Later on as his family grew, he spent a lot of time watching his grandchildren play in these sports and passed on his love of golfing to them.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1930 N Bowman Ave Danville, IL 61832 with Pastor James Yonkers officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made in Jerry's name to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danville, IL.
