Jerrie C. Heath

Jerrie C. Heath, 82, of Danville, passed away at 11:40 pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the VA Illiana Health Care in Danville. He was born in Danville on December 7, 1934, the son of Andrew and Matilda (Gay) Heath. He married Alice Swierbinski on October 16, 1954 in Salem, Arizona. She survives. Surviving family includes his two daughters, Crystal Vanderport and Cindy (Pat) Tranchant and son Jerry A. Heath. His five grandchildren, Lacy (Joshua) Young, Chad (Lauren) Tranchant, Jeremy, Jason and Joshua Heath. Four great-grandchildren, Alissa, Skyler, Alexis and Maisyn Young and Andy. Special nephews, Greg, Darrell, Jim, Roger and Steve Heath; nieces, Gloria Wade and Glenda Heath. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Alta and three brothers, Jim, Andy and Jack Heath. Jerrie was a Korean War Veteran, and was awarded four medals including two Korean medals. He retired with 38 years of service in 1989 from the Danville Veterans Administration Police Force, was Director of Civil Defense in Westville in the late 70's and worked on the Westville and Belgium Police. He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking and loved to work in his yard, always keeping it neat. He was a very friendly and out-going person who never knew a stranger. Jerry enjoyed having his family around and working in the garage helping his son and grandsons working on their cars. He will be sadly missed by all. A Graveside service for Jerrie will be at 10am on October 3,2017 at Danville National Cemetery. A visitation be held from 5:00 to 7:00pm on October 2, 2017 at Sunset Urbas Chapel, 414 S State St. Westville.
