Indianola- Jerri C. Harris was lifted on the wings of Angels to Heaven at 7:30 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Jerri was born on May 25, 1944 to Ruth Iona (Butts) Harris and Orie Edward Harris in Danville, IL. He attended Westville Schools and lived in Home Gardens. Later he entered the US Army. Jerri served 4 years active duty and 6 years in the reserves as a drill instructor. Jerri married Sharon Kay Huttsell on June 8, 1968. They had two daughters from this marriage, Kari Sue Harris-Coe and Christy Harris. Sharon preceded Jerri in death from a long battle with cancer. They were married for 17 years. Jerri later married Shirley (Curtis) Harris. With this marriage Jerri became father to two sons, Robert Wolcott and Gregory (Ashley) Harrier, two daughters, Carolyn (Ray) Jackson and Kristina (Scott) Jones. Jerri loved all of his children very much. He has ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are Ashlee (Wolcott) Gonzalez, Corey Wolcott, Zachary and Carissa Schumacher, Hannah and Hope Johnson, Abby and Ethan Jones, and Reese and Caden Harrier. Great-Grandchildren are Lillianna and Raulan Gonzalez. Jerri was an auto body specialist for over 30 years. Jerri loved to cut up, tease, and joke. He especially liked to dance, drink, beer, fish, fix anything, cut down trees, and most of all spend time with family and friends. Jerri was very kind, caring, and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He liked to help others very much and will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him. Jerri is survived by his wife Shirley of almost twenty-sex years, brother Mark (Lillian) Harris, two sisters, Sharon (Mike) Hoskins, Andrea Harris and Mike Bernardi. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Carolyn (Rick) Alley. Jerri considered Mike Curtis, Larry (Jadaun) Curtis, Kenneth (Susan) Curtis as his brothers also. Jerri also considered Barbara (Mark) Thiede as a sister. Jerri leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, cousins, aunt and uncles, and friends he loved very much. A service to celebrate the life of Jerri Harris will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Darren Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 PM on Sunday, May 15, also at Sunset in Danville. Per Jerris wishes, in lieu of regular florals, please send donations to his family c/o Sunset Funeral Home in Jerris memory or perennial flowers or bushes to be planted in a memory garden.
