Jennie Ziebart

Jennie Erma (Richey) Ziebart, 72, passed peacefully on her journey to heaven to spend eternity with her Lord Jesus on February 25th, 2025, at 7:00pm. Jennie was born to David Eugene and Margaret Ann (Whitaker) Richey on Friday, September 26th, 1952, in Danville, Illinois. Jennie was named after her two grandmothers, of which she was especially proud. Jennie attended Rabb School through eighth grade where she made some of her fondest memories, acting in various plays. She graduated from Covington High School in 1971 where she continued her acting career, playing Mae West, and earning two actress awards. She also participated in FHA and was a founding member of the Art Club. Jennie attended Cooper’s Chapel in her youth, where she was saved. After graduation, she was initially employed as a seamstress with Dynacore and at the Beef House. A good friend and neighbor, Nelly Stone, later spoke with Jennie about an opportunity at the VA Hospital. It was then Jennie found her passion caring for others as a nursing assistant, which she loved for multiple years.

On February 14th, 1983, she married Thomas Riley Swick, who preceeded her in death on February 27th, 1988. She later married F. Paul Ziebart on August 30th, 2014, at Crossroads Christian Church, he survives.

Jennie was the loving mother to two children, Lacie Swick and James Monroe, of whom she was very proud. Her children later blessed her further with three grandchildren, Justin Joseph, Paisley Monroe, and Skyla Monroe.

As a child, Jennie enjoyed going mushroom hunting as well as fishing alongside her siblings. Throughout her life, Jennie loved spending time with her family and spent many hours cooking, sharing recipes, and playing games. She also loved to garden, whether it be planting vegetables or beautiful flowers. She was considered crafty and artistic by many who knew her, consistently painting, drawing, sewing, and crocheting.

Jennie has a zest for life and always tried her best to make life fun no matter what the circumstance. She often found happiness and comfort in music, whether it be playing her guitar or listening to her favorite country western and gospel music. Jennie also often broke out into song, singing or humming a happy tune.

Jennie is survived by her loving husband, Paul; daughter, Lacie Swick, son, James Monroe all of Danville, IL; and her three grandchildren; as well as her sister, Emma (Darrel) Stonebraker and brother, Milo Richey all of Covington, IN; and multiple nieces and nephews. Jennie was preceded in death by her first husband; her parents; sisters, Christy Reed, Lois, Cummins, and Donna Riley; a niece, and one great-nephew.
