Jeffrey “Jeff” Hilligoss, born December 23, 1973, in Danville, Illinois, passed away on November 9, 2025.
Jeff spent his career in food and nutrition management, working across hospitals, higher education, and K–12 schools. Throughout his career, he managed food and nutrition operations, business relationships, and contracts. Most recently, he worked for Taher, Inc., a Minnesota-based food service management company before his passing.
Jeff had a lifelong love of music. He enjoyed attending concerts, listening to music, and playing the drums. Music was a constant source of enjoyment for him and an important part of who he was.
He was also an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Fighting Illini, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Cubs. As much as Jeff enjoyed watching his favorite teams, nothing compared to watching his own children compete.
More than anything, Jeff loved being a dad and watching his kids grow and excel in the sports they loved. He cherished the atmosphere of a softball field and a hockey rink and spent countless hours in the stands, along the glass, and on the sidelines supporting them. Some of his happiest moments were simply being there—watching, cheering, and taking pride in his children.
Jeff had a quick wit, a strong personality, and a way of making his presence known. Those who knew him will remember his humor, his passion for the things he loved, and, above all, the pride he took in his children.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Tiffany Hilligoss; stepdaughter, Lauren Dahl; son, Drew Hilligoss; and daughter, Madison Hilligoss. He is also survived by his father, Terry Hilligoss; mother, Cheryl Hilligoss; brother, Chris Hilligoss, and Sister-in-Law, Sherry Hilligoss along with extended family and friends who will carry his memory with them.
Following his passing, Jeff’s body was donated to medical research, contributing to the education and advancement of future medical care. His cremated remains were later returned to his family, allowing those who loved him to gather and honor his life together.
A Celebration of Life honoring Jeff will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, with a visitation from 2:00-3:00 p.m. and a Memorial Service at 3:15 Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834.
Following the Celebration of Life, family and friends are invited to a reception at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1930 N. Bowman Ave., Danville, Illinois. Friends and loved ones are encouraged to gather, share memories, and continue celebrating Jeff’s life together.
His family hopes that when people hear a favorite song, watch a Bears or Cubs game, or find themselves in the stands of a hockey rink or at a softball field, they will think of Jeff and the memories they shared with him.
