Danville- Jeffrey A. Clay 54, of Danville passed away unexpectedly at 10:23 a.m. on Monday Aug. 22, 2016 at his home. Jeff was born Nov. 7, 1961 in Fort Wayne, IN. He was the son of Julian Dale and Patricia Ann Barrett Clay. Survivors include his mother Patricia Clay of Danville, 3 brothers; Johney (Doreen) Clay of Georgetown, Danny (Donna) Clay of Danville, and Thomas Clay of Perrysville, IN. 2 sisters; Vickie Johnson of Potomac and Cheryll (Ken) Phillips of Bismarck. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews; Ambre (Aaron) Todd, Shelby (Tyler) Foley, Jesse Lee Clay, Adam Harper, Tiffany (Jason) Clay Jeffers, Devyn Clay, Mattie Mae Clay, and John Thomas Clay. 4 very special friends; Star, Tony, Dave, and Kathy. He was preceded in death by his father, a nephew Danny Clay Jr., a niece Kristi Hendricks, an uncle Richard Barrett, and 2 aunts Sharon Barrett and Nancy Smith, and a brother in law Ron Manuel. Jeff was always known as a hard worker. At the age of 13 he was the top newspaper carrier over 4 states for the Chicago Daily News which won him a trip to Hawaii for 2 weeks. He later followed up that same accomplishment at age 15 and won a whitewater rafting trip to Utah. After a short enlistment in the military he took that work ethic into his position as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Illiana Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Danville. He also had received his teaching certificate and had taught at Danville Area Community College. He belonged to the Holiday Hills Free Methodist Church and the Kennekuk Road Runners. In 1986 Jeff ran in the Boston Marathon and finished in the top 1,000 runners. Along with being an avid runner, he was also a triathlete. He also loved playing golf with his brother Johney. Jeff always said he was going to be a movie star and he proved himself right by being an extra on the movie set of the film "Babe" shot here in Danville. Jeff was a lifetime Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He loved his pets, especially his Dachshund, Tussie. He also deeply loved his family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday Aug. 27, 2106 at Holiday Hills Free Methodist Church 1700 N. Bowman Ave. in Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Bob Susman. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorials in his name may be made to the Holiday Hills Free Methodist Church or the Danville Humane Society. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N.
