Jeffery Sands

Jeffery "Jeff" Sands, 65, of Oakwood passed away at 6:06 PM on January 13, 2023 at his home in Oakwood, IL.

Jeff was born on April 1, 1957 the son of Howard and Linda (Morgan) Sands in Danville, IL. He married Penny Myers on September 4, 1976 in Muncie, IL and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Penny Sands of Oakwood, IL, sons, Cory (Jessica) Sands of Homer, IL and Shawn (Sadie Rasine) Sands of Ridge Farm, IL, his father, Howard Sands of Oakwood, IL and eight grandchildren, Tristan, Kacee, Cohen, Brenley, Bennett, Kimber, Sadie Jo and Maylin, as well as one brother, Rick (Carol) Sands of Oakwood, IL and one sister, Cindy (Bruce) Redman of Oakwood, IL.

Jeff is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his mother, Linda Sands.

Jeff worked as a Drywall Finisher out of the Local 363 Union Hall for many years and later worked for the Todd Scott company. He loved spending his free time with his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed listening to a variety of music and never knew a stranger.

A Celebration of Life for Jeff will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel, 105 E. South Main Street Oakwood, IL. Officiating the service will be Charlie Strange. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-7:00 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the funeral home in Oakwood.

The family kindly requests casual attire be worn in honor of Jeff for the visitation and the service.

Memorials may be made to a Suicide Awareness and Prevention organization of the donors choice.
