Jeannine Rife

DANVILLE, Ill. - Jeannine (Ashby) Crippin Rife, 84, died peacefully at 5:30 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2015, at home with her family by her side. She was born on December 13, 1930, to Everett & Waneta (Staggs) Ashby. Jeannine is survived by four of her children, Bill (Brenda) Crippin, Ray Crippin, Christine Fisher, and Gerri Rife; seventeen grandchildren, Bobi (Graham) Stott, Jason (Michelle) Crippin, Chad (Julie) Crippin, JT Ray, Corey (Jenni) Ray, Bob (Chris) Ray, Justin (Stacey) Ray, Jeremy (Kathy) Crippin, Jenny (Shane Ditmar) Crippin, Jodie (Andy) Linne, James Crippin, Stephanie Thomas, Melissa Crippin, Daniel Crippin, Irshell Rife Jr, Larry (Moriah) Rife, and Ed (Shannon) Rife; 42 great-grandchildren; nephews, John (Carol) Hafner and Greg (Katie) Ashby; and a cousin, Mona Brown. Jeannine was a waitress, and loved it! She worked at many establishments but ended her career at the Days Inn, where in 2000 she won the Rose Award for Exceptional Customer Service. Jeannine was a long-time member of the Life Church in Danville. She loved to sing and dance. Taking her children to the movies, and spending time with her grandchildren were some of her favorite things to do. Her life revolved around her faith in God, and her children and grandchildren. Everything she did was for them. Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Jim Crippin, Irshell Rife, and Larry Rife; sister, Evelyn Hafner; brother, Chuck Ashby; nephew, Sean Ashby; and her close cousin, Connie Brady. A service to celebrate Jeannine's life will be held at 2 pm Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Visitation will be two hours prior to the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest following services at Sunset Memorial Park.
