Our loving mother and devoted wife, Jeannette Jan Rouillard Rolson passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Jan was born in Augusta, Maine on November 26, 1937, to William and Gloria Rouillard. She grew up in Maine with 7 siblings: Raymond, Richard, Robert, Roger, Ronald, Yvette, and Beatrice. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings and a son, William Billy.
On February 20, 1960, she married James Jim Rolson and over their 63 years together, they raised six children. Her surviving children are Deanna Dee (James) of Saybrook, James Jim (Angie) of Mahomet, Betty Jean of Danvers, Jeffrey Jeff (Alicia) of Sorrento, FL, and Jeremy of Bellflower.
Jans six children were the center of her life. They blessed her with 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Being on the sidelines or in the stands for sporting and school events was a priority. It brought her endless hours of happiness. She took pride in telling stories of her kids and grandkids that highlighted everything from their achievements to their drop in visits. At any given time, she could thumb through her many volumes of newspaper clippings that were lovingly saved and shared through her scrapbooks.
Jan and Jim spent their early years raising their family in Maine and eventually settled in central Illinois. In addition to keeping things running smoothly at home, Jan made many friends through her years working as a waitress. She was also a member of the Local 703 Laborers Hall.
She reserved her Wednesday evenings for BINGO at the Legion where she spent time with her fellow BINGO friends and any family members that could join. At home she would be found tending to her plants, her puppies, watching for hummingbirds or reading romance novels. If you came for a visit, you could expect the TV to be tuned into whichever sporting event was in season. As children, we remember her amazing singing voice and can recall songs that were sung to us on repeat.
We would like to extend our thanks to the Carle Hospice staff. Their support during Jans final weeks was a blessing to her and the whole family.
Her love and endless support for her family will truly be missed by each of us.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
