Beverly Jeanne Eisenhauer, 73, of Danville, passed away at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. Jeanne was born on September 21, 1934 in Danville, the daughter of Sherman and Winifred (Carter) Wilson. She married Harry Eisenhauer on October 18, 1958 at St. Patricks Church in Danville. She is survived by her very loving husband, two children who miss her greatly including son- Scott (Amy) Eisenhauer and daughter- Julie (Kevin) Krum of Wilmington, North Carolina; and her greatest joy in the world, her granddaughter- Mallory Krum of Wilmington, North Carolina. She is also survived by one sister-in-law- Vera Wilson of Covington; three nephews- Bob (Cheryl) Wilson of La Habra, California, Jim (Judy) Meharry of Danville, Mike Wilson of Perrysville, Indiana; two nieces- Judy (Bruce) Gee of Covington, Indiana and Jackie (Ed) Glovinsky of Grants Pass, Oregon; and she leaves behind her dog McGuire and her cat Midnight. She will also be missed by other family members and a community of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers- Sterling Wilson and Woodrow Wilson; and one sister- Julia Meharry. Jeanne graduated from Danville High School in 1952. After high school she attended the University of Illinois for a year, before returning to Danville where she began a broadcasting career on WDAN Radio that spanned five decades. She became only the second on-air female personality in Danville when she took over the hosting duties of a radio program entitled Listen Ladies. Following that, she entertained radio audiences for several years on the Partyline, a two-hour talk show she co-hosted with several on-air personalities, including at one time, her son Scott. Following her retirement as the traffic manager for the radio station, she continued her on-air duties hosting the weekly Master Gardeners Radio Show until her stroke one year ago. Jeanne was elected to the Danville District 118 School Board for 8 years, and served as Vice President for four. She was a big believer in community involvement and served on many committees, boards, and in several social and civic organizations, including more recently the Douglas Discovery Garden Committee, the Celebrity Way Committee, the Festival of Trees Steering Committee, and was a Lifetime Member of the Danville Humane Society. Over the years Jeanne enjoyed participating in local theatre productions including some for the Red Mask Players, attending plays and musicals, was an annual participant in the Oldsmobile Balloon Classic Illinois and attended various other community events. She enjoyed gardening, going to flower shows, cross stitching, scrap booking, listening to music, and was an active communicator on the internet. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. A Celebration of the Life of Jeanne Eisenhauer will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Father Robert Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 " 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park following the service.
