Jeanne C. (Cleland) McAllister, 88, of Rossville, IL, passed this life into her heavenly home, Monday, Jul 9, 2012 at her home. She was born August 14, 1923 in Danville to William J. and Juliette Jeanne (Smith) Cleland. Both are deceased. She attended Danville grade school, Danville High School and was an astute singer and sang on the radio at WDNA in her earlier years. Later in life she enjoyed singing in church and at weddings. She met and married Ralph H. McAllister on Jan 8, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. She is survived and will be missed by her four children; Valerie Paree of Ridge Farm, Shirley (Bill) Sanders of Rossville, Melanie (Markus) McCullough of Bradford, IL, and Natalie Faulkner of Rossville. Her 15 grandchildren, Darrin and Danny Paree, Dawn Harrington, Shelly Potter, Sherrey Sanders, Kelly Adkins, Jennifer Slickenmyer, Kris Eisenburg, Tiffany Dill, Samantha VanHoven, Luke McCullough, Megan, Colton, Austin, and Todd Faulkner Jr. Fourty-one great-grandchildren and eighteen great-great grandchildren also survive her. In addition to her parents, her husband Ralph, one son-in-law, Charles Paree, and one grandson, Justin Slickenmyer preceded her in death. Jeanne had worked throughout her life in the retail business and alongside her husband in there business McAllister Generator Shop. Most of all she was a full time mom with a giving and generous heart and a beautiful smile. She enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and word searches. She dearly enjoyed and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed by all that knew her. A celebration of life service for Jeanne McAllister is scheduled for 2:00pm on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville will burial to take place at Springhill Cemetery following the service. Pastor Mike Stipp has been asked to officiate the service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00pm until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
