Jean L. Kinney, 81, of Bismarck, passed away on July 9, 2018 in her home surrounded by her daughter, son-in-law, sister and a very dear friend. Jean was born on August 24, 1937 in Danville, IL, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude Hiser. Jean was one of eight children and had a twin brother who passed in August of 2014. She married Glen Kinney on December 21, 1958 in Bismarck, IL. Glen passed away in March of 2014. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Brenda (Eric) Nielsen of Columbus, IN, two grandchildren, Andrew Nielsen and fianc Kami Spiklemire of Washington DC and Michael Nielsen and girlfriend, Denisa Brooks of Bloomington, IN. Also surviving are three sisters Barbara (Larry) Darr, Sharon (Kenny) Bostwick of Oakwood, Judy (Rick) Kentner of Bismarck, two brothers Gary (Paula) Hiser and Kenneth Hiser. Also surviving is the spouse of her twin brother, Ann Hiser. Jean had many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She will also be missed by many special friends who were family too. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Beth, husband Glen, twin brother John Hiser, brother Bob Hiser, sister-in-law Paula Hiser, brother-in-law Larry Darr and niece Kelley Hiser. Jean was a high school graduate of Bismarck High School. She retired from Iroquois Federal in 2012 where she was a Mortgage Loan Officer. After retirement, Jean and Glen spent many years in Florida during the cold months, with Siesta Key being their favorite. They also had a large group of friends that traveled to Las Vegas and had many Harley trips throughout the county. The family would like to thank Carle Hospice going out of their way to make Jean's passing peaceful. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Anderson. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held the evening prior on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or Kamp Kessem, a camp that children who have parents affected by cancer can attend at no cost. Donation can be made online at kampkessem.org.
