Jean Elliott Fisher

Jean Elliott Fisher, 87, of Danville, passed away at 10:59 AM on November 11, 2011 at her residence. Jean was born on May 29, 1924 to Eugene C. and Esther H. (Williams) Elliott in Danville. She married Hubert L. Fisher on December 24, 1947 in Rockford IL, he preceded her in death on November 19, 1970. She is survived by one son-Michael Fisher of Weslaco, TX, one brother- Joseph Elliott of Lake City MI, two nieces- Leah (David) Apley and Nerissa Elliott, one great nephew- DJ Elliott and numerous other cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one daughter-Hollis Fisher. Jean graduated from Danville High School in 1942 and then Rockford College in 1946. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Danville. She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star and American Association of University Women. Jean enjoyed teaching in Danville, Dekalb, Normal and retired from Brentwood School District in Bayshore New York in 1985. She loved genealogy and made friends with everyone she met. A graveside service will be held at GAR Cemetery in Homer IL on November 8, 2011 at 2 PM with Pastor Jimmy Hopper officiating. Memorials may be made in Jean's name to the Rockford College Endowment Fund. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville is in charge of arrangements.
