Janis L. Weaver

Janis L. Weaver, 64, of Champaign, passed away on June 5, 2026, after a long 3 years of battling breast cancer.

She is survived by her beloved son, Matthew, her mother, sister, nephew, sister-in-law, two nieces, many friends, and cat, Wabash.

Janis was born in Buffalo, NY on July 4th, 1961. Her family relocated to Tennessee for a few years before moving to and settling in New Jersey close to Philadelphia, PA. After graduating high school, Janis came out to Illinois and attended college at the University of Illinois. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree and began working for the University of Illinois. She met her lifelong love and friend, Lon A. Jackson, and blessed him with a son in 1993. Lon passed in 2021.

Janis retired after working more than 40 years for the University of Illinois. She loved music, cats, trains, the ocean, fireworks, the east coast, and spending time with her family. Janis’s passion for music was massive, especially for classic rock, hard rock, hair metal, blues, motown, and more. Janis was known for her very kind and generous heart. She always surprised friends and loved ones with very thoughtful and personal gifts. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Her cat Wabash now lives with her son. She left this world far too soon. She was always thinking of others and praying for them. Janis was a Christian and believer in Jesus Christ.
