Janice Muriel Simpkins, age 74, of Danville, went to be with the Lord at 4:01 pm on Monday, September 24, 2007 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born March 19, 1933 in Marion County, IN the daughter of Joseph Lewis and Muriel (Davison) Roach. Janice married Chester M. Simpkins on July 10, 1955 at the Rossville United Methodist Church in Rossville. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1998. She is survived by one son: Stephen Simpkins of Danville; two daughters: Connie (Craig) Cruppenink of Georgetown, Janet Renae (Neil) Cleveland of Danville; one brother: Charles (Ethel) Roach of Rossville; one sister: Connie (Eliecer) Anzola of Florida; one brother-in-law: Paul Harvey of Godfrey, IL; and six grandchildren: Katie Jo, who is attending the Illinois Math and Science Academy in Aurora, IL, and Marianne Cruppenink, Sarah, Matthew, Emily and Joseph Cleveland. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Joseph Hollis Roach, who was killed in action during World War II, and Ronnie Roach; two sisters: Cathy Harvey, Madelyn Claypool; and one brother-in-law:Larry Claypool. Janice graduated from Farmland, Indiana High School and Lakeview college of Nursing with an RN degree. She worked as a nurse at the VA Hospital in Danville and also for Lakeview Hospital and Colonial Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of DAR and attended Edgewood Baptist Church and Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel. Janice enjoyed looking at flowers, doing housework, and making pies. She loved Bible studies, especially the Book of Revelations, and spending time with her grandchildren.
