Janice Hammonds

Janice Lynn Hammonds, 71, of Champaign, IL passed away at her home on August 14, 2026 at 2:00 PM.

Janice was born on November 23, 1954 the daughter of Billy Joe and Barbara (Robinson) Forbes in Danville, IL. She married Danny Leon Hammonds in March of 1981 in Effingham, IL and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2002.

Survivors include her children, Gregory Allen (Ann Marie) Forbes of Branson, MO, Jennifer Lynn Ervin of Champaign, IL, Kristopher Ryan Hammonds of Memphis, TN, Kelley Jean (Michael Williams) Hammonds of Urbana, IL, and Mica Ervin of Urbana, IL, her grandchildren, Ruby, Olivia, Logan, Jana, Audrey, Karissa, Gavin, Ayliah, and D.J., her great grandchildren, Daniel, Amaria, Alayna, Tryvon, Kayden, Axara and Talon, as well as her brother, Jeffery Dean Zumwalt of Champaign, IL.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Dewey Zumwalt, her husband, Danny Leon Forbes, her siblings, Victoria Jean Forbes and Billy Joe Forbes, Jr., and her son-in-law, Terry Bell.

Janice was a property manager for many years and most recently worked at Casey’s in Urbana, IL. She enjoyed spending her free time shopping, creating diamond painting art projects and loved spending time with her “grandbabies”.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 21, 2026 Bethel Cemetery in Danville, IL. Miles Clark will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM -10:00 AM on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834.
