Janice E. Briggs

Danville - Janice E. Briggs, 89, of Tilton, IL passed away at 3:22 AM on Wednesday January 25, 2017 at Presence USMC in Danville, IL. Janice was born on February 6, 1927 the daughter of Wallace and Creta (Baughman) Carson in Danville, IL. She married Charles E. Briggs on October 3, 1942 in St Charles, MO and he preceded her in death on November 29, 1996. Survivors include: her best friend and sister Patricia Carson, one son, Chuck (Julie) Briggs, two daughters, Janice (JR) King, and Chris (Don) Prouty, two grandchildren, Rick (Laura) Boyd and Lacy (Briggs) Cronkhite seven great grandchildren, Amber (Daniel) Cole, Corey Boyd, Elizabeth Boyd, Savanna Cronkhite, Olivia Cronkhite, Jackson Cronkhite, Eris Valdez, one great great grandson, Noah Cole, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, infant son, Richard and one brother Gene Carson. Janice was a member of Latter Rain Fellowship and enjoyed worshipping the Lord with her church family. Janice was a talented pianist, homemaker, and devoted mother and grandmother. She was an active member in React CB Radio Club in the 70's Her handle was "Indian". She also enjoyed playing Yahtzee and Euchre. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. Pastor Don Prouty will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 PM February 1, 2017 at the funeral home.
