Janette R. Blakeney

Cayuga, Ind. - Janette Rae Blakeney, 64, of Cayuga passed away at 2:24 p.m. EDT Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

She was born July 14, 1954 in Danville, Illinois the daughter of the late Wayne and Ila (Dingwell) Blakeney.

Janette married Tom Brown in 1975 and together had one daughter, Tasha. They later divorced.

Survivors include her daughter: Tasha (Jason McConnell) Rossiter of Lodi, Indiana; one sister: Becky (Roger) Klink of Ridge Farm, Illinois; one brother: Bill Blakeney of North Carolina; four grandchildren: Challenge Rossiter, Bruce Rossiter Jr., ABIGayle Rossiter and Kamdyn McConnell. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Janette was preceded in death by her parents, one sister: Gayle; and son-in-law: Bruce Rossiter.

Janette worked at the bowling alley in Ridge Farm, Illinois as a cook and waitress up until the bowling alley sold in 2000. She later went on to own the Riverbottom Lounge in Newport, Indiana from 2003-2005. She attended the Ridge Farm United Methodist Church and later attended the Nazarene Church in Ridge Farm. She was a 1972 graduate of Ridge Farm High School. Janette enjoyed bowling, softball, socializing with friends, cookouts, loved going to the river, animals and taking motorcycle rides. Janette was known for her kind heart. She would go above and beyond to do anything for anyone.

Memorial service: 1 p.m. EDT Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Visitation: 11 a.m. EDT Wednesday, June 19, 2019 until time of services at the funeral home. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is honored to be assisting the family.
