Janet Winona Stanis

Janet Winona Stanis, 86, of Danville, passed away at 6:02pm on August 29, 2008 at Hospice of the Golden Isle, Brunswick, Georgia, where she had been living with her son Kenneth. Janet was born March 1, 1922 in Danville the daughter of Edward and Janet Montgerard Hafner. On February 10, 1945, she married Julius Stanis he preceded her on February 20, 1979. Janet was the loving mother of Jerry Stanis of Kingsland, GA, Steven (Cheryl ) Stanis of Oakwood, and Kenneth Stanis also of Kingsland, GA.; Dearest grandmother of Michael Stanis, Jeff (Charity) Stanis, Jason (Molly) Stanis, Jeremy Stanis and Michelle (David) Hoy and great grandmother of Aubrey, Bryson, Phoebe and David III; Dear sister of Lowell (Alice) Hafner of Danville and fond aunt of several nieces and nephews. Janet enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crafting, loved her garden and flowers that filled her yard. Janet also enjoyed traveling and camping. And last but not least she was a lifelong Cardinal fan. Her parents, husband and son Larry also brothers Earl, Maxx, Harlan, and Norman Hafner preceded Janet in death. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday September 4, 2008 at Danville National Cemetery. Pastor Peter Wright will officiate.
