Covington, Ind. - Janet Sue Ping, 79, of Covington passed away at 8:15 a.m. EDT Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Waters of Covington.

She was born September 21, 1941 in Fountain County, Indiana the daughter of the late Lewis N. and Lois (Mettee) Richardson.

Survivors include two daughters: Ruth (Ken) Niccum of Covington, Indiana and Lisa (Wayne) Coppenbarger of Kingman, Indiana; son: Kevin (Jodi) Ping of Attica, Indiana; six grandchildren: Nathan, Brandon, Blake, Kendall, Jaylynn and Kenlie; three great grandchildren; sister: Beck Brook of Crawfordsville, Indiana and brother: Raymond (Glenda) Richardson of Kingman, Indiana.

Janet was preceded in death by her son: Darrel Ping, Jr.; two sisters: Mary Whyde and Betty Hensley and brother: Bob Richardson.

Janet worked at the Waters of Covington from 1985 to 2000 in the dietary department, housekeeping department, kitchen and lastly as a CNA. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Covington. Janet was a graduate of Kingman High School. She enjoyed baking, gardening, quilting and watching old western movies.

Graveside services and burial: Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 2 p.m. EDT at Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana; Officiating: Don Hesler. There will be no visitation. Contributions may be made to the Waters of Covington Activities Fund, 1600 Liberty Street, Covington, Indiana 47932. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is in charge of arrangements.
