Janet Marie Miller departed this world on January 2nd, 2019 and entered into the Kingdom of God.
She was born Janet Marie Huber on August 8th, 1932 to Bertha Mae (Yarger) Huber and James Timothy Huber. She was the third of nine children. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James Timothy Huber Jr and Jerry William Huber along with three sisters. She is survived by two sisters Alice Joyce (Edward) Cramer and Julia Lynn (Wesley) Parker both of Danville and one brother John Wesley Huber of Oregon.
Janet told family members that she had found the man she was going to marry when she met William Henry Miller. On January 9th, 1953, that statement came true as she married William at Oaklawn Church of the Nazarene in Danville. They enjoyed 55 years as soulmates until William's passing on May 18, 2008. They had two children who also survive. Lavon Dee (Keith) Nelson of Springfield, Illinois and Timothy Alan (Josia Lee) Miller of Danville. Janet and William were blessed with five grandchildren, William Alan (Holly) Miller, Jacqueline Marie Miller, Jordan Tyler (Emily) Miller, Lydia Jean-Marie (Joshua) McClendon and Alexander DuBois (Monica) Nelson. Recently, Janet was blessed with two great granddaughters, Teegan Marie McClendon and Charlotte Grace Miller.
Janet was a dedicated Christian who was very active in her church from her teenage years until her health prevented her from participating as much as she wanted. She never lost her love of God through all of these times. She held positions in the church such as Sunday School teacher and Missionary Society President. William and Janet attended many conventions for their church. She was a participant with the church choirs and loved to sing. She had a love for different styles of music.
For many years, she was a stay at home mom. She eventually did go out in the work force and began working at the G.E. Credit Union, which later became the Midwest America Federal Credit Union, until her retirement.
Janet loved being with her family. It brought laughter and smiles to her face to be in the midst of her relatives. In return, she brought stability and direction to many of these same family members. Her positive attitude also extended to her many friends. Her grandchildren also brought her countless hours of joy and happiness as she watched them grow. Each one was special. She showed no favoritism to any of these grandchildren. Her love to them, as well as her family, was unconditional. As she grew into the role of a grandmother, she made a comment that still rings true: 'if I had known how much fun grandkids were, I would have had them first.'
The loss of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt as well as friend is difficult. Knowing she was ready to meet Jesus and is now in His arms, free from pain, makes this loss easier to deal with.
Goodbye Mom! We love you!
