Champaign Janet Lynn "Jaelyn" Jefferson, 55, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at her home in Champaign, IL. She was born in Rahway, NJ on August 23, 1963 to Lulu H. Seals of Champaign, IL and Edward J. Jefferson of Elizabeth, NJ.

Janet was preceded in death by her father; and step-father Nathaniel Ceasar. She is survived by her mother; siblings include Marion W. (Camille) Starks, Jr. of Tampa, FL, Carrie J. Starks of Champaign, IL, and Kyra M. (Timothy) Nixon of Rantoul, IL; nieces and nephew Krystal Starks of Acworth, GA, Lorraine Gonzalez of Fayetteville, NC, Marion Starks, III (Rachel) of Plano, TX, and Ashley Starks of Tampa, FL; great nieces and nephew Ciara, Nevia, Mia, Ariyanna, Tony, and Alani; Aunt Mable J. Wallace of Scotch Plains, NJ and Uncle John B. Seals of Tallahassee, FL; and several cousins and friends.

She graduated from Centennial High School in 1981 and was employed at the University of Illinois library in Acquisitions for 34 years before her retirement in 2014. Janet enjoyed baking, watching movies, and entering sweepstakes. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and she liked spending time with her late cat, Kitty Witty.

A private memorial celebration will be held in Janets honor. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are being handled by Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Champaign, IL, 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL.
