Minooka, IL - Heaven gained the kindest, purest, softest soul on Friday, June 23, 2023.
Janet Louise (Cappello) Neathery, 79, passed peacefully in her home of Minooka, IL. Janet was born on April 7, 1944 in Danville, Illinois to Dorothy Mae (Hughes) Cappello and Charles Antone Cappello, Sr. She was proceeded in death by her parents and three brothers; Charles A. Cappello, Jr, Ronald Cappello, and Randy Cappello.
She attended Danville High School where she met her first husband Melvin Leroy Keerns and they were blessed with three children; Monty Earl Keerns of Danville, Joseph Charles (Cindy) Keerns of Sheridan, IN, and Michele Renee (Karl P. Wagner) Keerns of Sycamore, IL. Following 19 years of marriage they divorced and she met her loving, surviving husband Lynn A. Neathery whom she married on August 7, 1982. Their love produced Jeffrey A. Neathery of Minooka, IL. In 1985, they moved from Indianola, IL to Minooka, IL.
In her early life in Danville, Janet worked in retail with the Sears Catalogue Department for over 20 years. Once she moved to the Minooka area, she continued her work in retail at Sears, Wal-Mart, Carson Prairie Scott, Dress Barn and JC Pennys.
Janet was a lover of all animals having made many donations to the ASPCA and other charitable organizations. A loyal Chicago White Sox fan, she could be found with a puzzle book in her hand. Janet inherited the green thumb from her mother who many in the Danville area may remember Dorothys grand residence. Her devotion to her family through the countless birthday, holiday and seasonal greeting cards as well as her delicious baking will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her grandchildren Sarah (Jesse) Amos of Danville, IL and Daniel Keerns also of Danville, IL.; three great-grandchildren Hunter, Aarabella, and Odin.
A service to celebrate the life of Janet L. (Cappello) Neathery will be held at 2pm on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 1pm-2pm prior to the service on Thursday, also at Sunset in Danville. Donations in her name may be made to the ASPCA or other similar Animal Rescue Foundations.
