Janet L Galyen

Janet Galyen, 76, of Georgetown, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at Presence USMC, Danville. She was born on February 6, 1938, in Danville, the daughter of Sidney & Almeda {Scurlock} Lowe. On June 3, 1956, she married Deane Galyen at the Georgetown Friends Church. He preceded her in death in July of 2005. Janet will be dearly missed by her daughters, Lisa Galyen & Lori (James) Helwig, both of Georgetown. She is also survived by: her grandchildren, Danica (Brad) Hayes, Tate Pearson (Kayla Greene), Justin Byers (Brittney Petticrew), Macie Helwig, & Elijah Helwig; her great grandchildren, Haylee Hayes, Hadlee Hayes, & Natalie Byers; her sisters, Bonnie Ward Garrison & Barbara (Fred) Sherman. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Bob Lowe. Janet was an elementary school teacher at Pinecrest School for over 20 years. She was a proud volunteer of the Georgetown Fair in the floral department for many years. Janet loved spending time with her family, playing games at holiday dinners, and attending her grandchildrens sporting events. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, walking her dogs and taking care of the wild birds around her home. Per Janets wishes she was cremated under the care of Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown. A celebration of Janets life will be held 1-4pm, Saturday, September 27, 2014, for family and friends at the Georgetown Fairgrounds (old food building) for family & friends. Memorial donations can be made in her name to C.A.R.A. in Tilton or to the Georgetown Fair Association.
