Cayuga, Ind. - Janet L. Cook, 71, of Cayuga, passed away at 2:42 p.m. EDT Tuesday, July 9,2019 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
She was born November 8, 1947 in Clinton, Indiana the daughter of the late James M. and Betty L. (Randolph) Warnick.
Janet married Charles E. Cook on February 11, 1972 in Cayuga, Indiana. He survives.
Other survivors include her daughter: Leslie (Todd) Bumpus of Covington, Indiana; son: Brad Cook of Terre Haute, Indiana; four grandchildren: Brandon (Hannah) Bumpus, Morgan Bumpus, Brandy Cook and Jazmin Cook; sister: Marjorie (Terry) Hennis of Cayuga, Indiana; brother: Dale (Rhonda) Warnick of Cayuga, Indiana; aunt: Connie Warnick of Kingman, Indiana; sisters -in- law: Doris Dowers, Helen Dunham, Dorothy Norman and Shirley Anderson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Janet was preceded in death by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Janet was a member of the Cayuga Presbyterian Church. She was a 1965 graduate of Covington High School. After high school she attended the House of James in Danville. Janet later worked at flower shops in Kingman and Cayuga. She started working at Steel Grip in Kingman in 1993 and then the Covington plant until her retirement on May 20, 2015. Janet loved flowers and was so talented at designing arrangements. She especially loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Janet and Charlie spent their years together having fun. They camped, fished and took boat trips on the Wabash. They enjoyed Flea markets and auctions. Antiques became a big part of their lives the past few years. They loved the school functions and our students at North Vermillion. You would see them riding together on their ATV. Janet never knew a stranger. She made a friend everywhere she went. She was always there to help her family and friends.
The love she had for her family was truly unconditional. She will be missed by all. Thanks Janet for all the great memories. Our family was so blessed to have you.
Funeral services: 11 a.m. EDT Monday, July 15, 2019 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Keith Warner; Burial: Silver Island Cemetery in rural Kingman, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2019 at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Parke/Vermillion Humane Society, 1884 South State Road 63, Hillsdale, Indiana 47854.
