Janet Gay Irvin

Danville - Janet Gay Irvin, 79, of Danville passed away on May 20, 2018 at 3:31 PM at St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham, IL. Janet was born on December 5, 1938 in Ellis, IL the daughter of Dwight Lee and Nellie Virginia (Ray) Rice. She married Lyle Irvin on April 29, 1978 in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2008. Survivors include her son; Joe (Mary) Hopkins of Savoy, IL, her daughter; Gaye (Dennis) Utley of Effingham, IL, one sister; Pat (Ed) Runge of College Station, TX, three grandchildren; Jacob Hopkins of Savoy, IL, Jade Jurgens of Effingham, IL and Hunter (Katie) Jurgens of Kentucky as well as two great grandchildren; Drake Weir and Daxton Brummer both of Effingham, IL. Janet is preceded in death by her parents and husband; Lyle. Janet was raised in the Ellis Area, attended Ellis Grade School and was a 1957 Graduate of Armstrong High School. Janet was a member of CrossRoads Christian Church and retired from the Credit Bureau. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her black miniature poodle; "Sammy", walking in her neighborhood, crafting, reading, as well as doing yardwork and gardening. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. Miles Clark will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in memory of Janet may be given to CrossRoads Christian Church.
