Janeen K. Davis

Cayuga, Ind. -- Janeen Davis, 56, of Cayuga, passed away at 2:40 a.m. EST Sunday, February 13, 2011 at St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born May 17, 1954 in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Luther A. and Margie Edwards Melton. She married James E. "Jim" Davis on June 25, 1976 in Johnsonville, Tennessee. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2003. Survivors include her daughter, Chelsie L.(Trey Bryant)Davis of Cayuga, Indiana; son, Troy(Tracy)Davis of Mobile, Alabama; mother, Margie Melton of rural Kingman, Indiana; two grandchildren, Alisha Davis and Landon Peterson; companion, Jerry Ross of Perrysville, Indiana; brother, Jody(Maureen)Melton of DeMotte, Indiana; nephew, Mark Melton of Indianapolis, Indiana; two nieces, Meagan(Derek)Koeneman of Carmel, Indiana and Jillian(Trenton)Cheney of Wheatfield, Indiana; lifelong friend, Toby Widmeyer of Indianapolis, Indiana. Janeen was preceded in death by her father, Luther A. Melton; father and mother in law, Don(Elsie)Davis and sister in law, Shirley Davis. Janeen was a member of the Cayuga Christian Church and the Cayuga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 263. She was a 1972 graduate of Covington High School. Janeen enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, canning, watching NASCAR and her favorite driver Jimmie Johnson, Auburn University Football and visiting with her friends and having coffee every morning at the Cayuga Red & White. A special "Thank You" to Dr. Birhiray and his staff at St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital for the care they showed Janeen during her illness. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EST Thursday, February 17, 2011 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Dr. Andy Spencer and Rev. Steve Vitaniemi; Burial: Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana; Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. EST Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the funeral home.
