Jane Toms

Jane Lois (Duquesnoy) Toms, 102, of Danville, Illinois passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Pleasant Meadows in Chrisman, Illinois.

She was born April 24, 1922, in Danville, Illinois, daughter to the late Louis and Lydia (Scarsey) Duquesnoy.

Jane married Jack Toms on July 8, 1942, in Danville, Illinois, and he preceded her in death in March of 1981.

Jane is survived by her son: Joseph Raymond (Donna) Toms of Oxford, GA., and daughter-in-law: Donna L. Toms; her grandchildren: Jeffery (Melanie) Toms of Danville, IL., Jason (Carolina) Toms, Sarai (David) Riffle of Newborn, GA., and Luke Toms of Oxford, GA; her great-grandchildren: Jessica (Matthew) McDaniel, Jenna (Tristen) Shutes, Jakob Toms, Jackeline Toms, Felicity Riffel, Loren Riffel, Zachary Riffel Sophie Riffel and Chloe; and her great-great grandchildren: Layla McDaniel, Taya Shutes, Jensen Shutes, and Jacksen Shutes.

She was preceded in death by her sons: Jack Wayland Toms Jr., and James Allen Toms; a grandson: David Michael Toms, and two sisters: Louise Biscart and Fern Collard.

Jane was a talented seamstress and enjoyed doing crafts. She was employed at the Vermilion County Courthouse and a member of First Baptist Church. She loved helping at her church making bulletins, helping with Vacation Bible School, and also lending a hand in the nursery. She was a great cook and will be remembered for her excellent pie crust and french galletts. Most of all, Jane enjoyed spending time with those she loved.

A Celebration of Life for Jane will take place at 10AM on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street in Danville, Illinois. David Riffel will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Danville, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9AM-10AM on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the funeral home.

Memorials in Jane's name may be made to American Cancer Society and American Heart Fund.
